Ongoing Bulletin Contributors write articles for publication that advance the educational needs of members. These volunteers have an opportunity to share their knowledge and advice, develop their communication writing skills, and increase their visibility in the profession.

Reporting to the Assistant Editor staff liaison, for a one-year rolling term as agreed upon by the contributor and ACUI, contributors are responsible for:

  • Contributing to the educational mission of the Association through at least four posts per year to The Bulletin, ACUI’s publication for educational insights and information sharing for professionals. 
  • Submitting drafts and working with the editor during the editorial process to optimize each article
  • Staying abreast of article due dates, the Bulletin team’s resources, and industry news to aid the conception of potential writing topics.
  • Ensuring that contributions are either original or properly attributed, and highlight a skill set(s) within one or more of ACUI’s 11 core competencies.

This is an Association-level contributing volunteer position, ideal for those interested in curating content for other members, reviewing materials to help make decisions, sharing expertise to build credibility, and welcoming participants at events.

Opportunities to contribute open up at various times throughout the year, and appointments could be made as needs occur on a rolling bases. This short-term position will not require an interview as part of the application process.

At the time of application, individuals must have: membership in ACUI; a commitment to fulfilling the duties of the position; and organization/supervisor awareness of the commitment. Applicants must also demonstrate an understanding of ACUI’s vision, core values, and core competencies, as well as the knowledge and skills necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position. 

Contributing volunteer opportunities typically require three or less months of commitment, with many roles only requiring a few hours of time.
