Important Conference Update

After conducting a 2022 regional needs assessment, it was determined that our regional members did not want to travel more than four hours for an in-person regional experience. Using this information and considering the expansive distance of our region, the Regional Leadership Team chose to design a multi-site, synchronous conference experience for 2023.

Since launching the conference registration through social media, regional emails, and direct member outreach, we have been closely monitoring educational session submission and registrations at each site. Unfortunately, we did not see the volume of educational sessions nor registrants that would provide the value add experience we strive for nor would it be a sound financial decision for the region. Due to this, we have made the decision to cancel the 2023 multi-site conference. Please know this is not a decision we made lightly. I want to thank Hannah Muldoon-Davis for her tremendous work as the conference coordinator as well as colleagues at Wayne State, IUPUI, and JMU led by Dr. Katie Beaulieu, Joe Hayes, and Dr. Jen Grossman Leopard, respectively. Hours were put into planning this conference and their efforts should be uplifted.

If you remain interested in a regional conference experience this year, there are neighboring regions hosting conferences in North Carolina, Springfield, Illinois, and New Jersey. These conference and more can be found at acui.org/regions.

The Regional Leadership Team is committed to investing our time to find offerings that meet your wants and needs. We have a number of ideas we are contemplating including:

  • Two gatherings at the Annual Conference
  • Asking educational session presenters to present their content through virtual learning session(s)
  • Creation of shared resources
  • Mentoring/coaching program
  • Drive-In host toolkit
  • Student exchange hosting toolkit
  • Communications and outreach campaign introducing/reintroducing regional members to ACUI
