The Outstanding Service Project of the Year recognizes an exceptional campus program that has made significant contributions to its community through service projects and a commitment to helping others. This rewards a campus for its dedication to being a leader in supporting community needs.
2023 Recipient: Giving Tuesday, Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi
Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi had 295 staff and faculty volunteers at 23 different locations across the city during Giving Tuesday. This team included the university president and all six vice presidents. Support and visibility for local non-profits as well as modeling behavior for students was the goal of this year’s Giving Tuesday. Examples of this work included cleaning 1,965 headstones of veterans, maintenance work on the USS Lexington, assembling food baskets, and removing trash and debris from the local state park.
