A native of Pullman, Washington, Nakata earned a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication at Washington State, where he has gone on to have a 35-year career working in admissions, multicultural student services, the Office of the Vice President for Equity and Diversity, and student affairs.
